Snapshots from SAF Palm Springs 2007

“Great energy in the air...a sense of purpose. Kudos...”

Steve Frye, Baisch and Skinner, St. Louis, Mo.

Nineteen top designers -- many who had already won top national, international and regional honors -- competed in the 40th Annual Sylvia Cup Competition in Palm Springs. They all faced the same challenge: two hours to work on a "surprise" design challenge -- a bridal bouquet, wedding centerpiece and hairpiece -- around the theme "California Dreaming in the Sixties." Each contestant received the same product assortment featuring roses provided by contest sponsor Eufloria Flowers, along with lilies, delphiniums, orchids and decorative wire among other floral tools. There were three cash prizes: $2,500 for the top designer and two $250 runner-up awards, all provided by Smithers-Oasis.
