'The View' Peddles Poinsettia Myth, Medical Journal Weeds Out Truth

Plenty of dissenting opinions get slung across the table, rattling coffee mugs and nerves, on the set of ABC's daytime gabfest, "The View," but a recent statement about poinsettia's toxicity proved to be flat-out wrong, no matter what your politics.

On Dec. 18, host Whoopi Goldberg told viewers that poinsettias are poisonous — a misconception addressed in the British Medical Journal's annual Christmas issue. SAF sent executive producer Bill Geddie a
letter Dec. 19 asking the show to take a little time to read the facts about the popular holiday plant.
