USAID, www.usaid.gov, recently partnered with Asocolflores, the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters, to help fund a training program to assist displaced Colombians build careers in the floral industry, according to Silvia Ardila, promotion and communications assistant for Asocolflores. After decades of violence in Colombia, the groups estimate the number of displaced people to be more than three million. About 500 displaced people are taking part in the program, Ardila says. USAID will fund about 25 percent of the program.
