Growers are asked by
the national Whitefly Task Force to pay particular attention to
whitefly populations, and to send for confidential biotyping any which
are difficult to control. The national Ad Hoc Whitefly Task Force
issued a letter of appeal to U.S. ornamentals growers, asking them to
pay particular attention this year to whitefly management problems and
to send problem whiteflies for confidential biotyping. The goal is to
continue agriculture's two-year effort to avoid developing pesticide
resistance and to avoid spreading the already-resistant Q-biotype.
