SAF Members Rally 'Round Buy-Local Campaign 350ProjectFlyer.jpg

The buy-local movement started by SAF Phoenix 2009 keynote speaker Cinda Baxter is generating buzz at the national level, with coverage in yesterday’s The Wall Street Journal as well as at the grassroots level in the floral industry. About 120 floral businesses have signed on to The 3/50 Project as participants. Several SAF members — mostly retailers, but also some wholesalers and growers — have put the article “Buy Local Push Goes Nationwide” from the June issue of Floral Management on their Web sites. Others are actively promoting the program to local businesses as well as customers.
